Elephants

This post is way old but for some reason it never made it out of my drafts (5-4-14).  I HAVE to share about it because I got to spend time with some of my favorite things ever, My mom, niece & nephew, friends, the bf and ELEPHANTS!

It was a rather busy weekend but Friday I had the opportunity to sit on my porch and have a glass, err a mean a few glasses of wine.   It was nice to not have anything to do especially with the busy weekend ahead.  I love that it's finally starting to get warmer, it just makes my heart happy.  Phil was on his way back from Arizona so it was just me,  the pups and my bottle of Moscato.

Saturday was the day I got to play with the elephants! :)  Phil and I headed down to Indy to spend the day with my Mom, Martha, my brother Liam and his family at the Indianapolis Zoo.  It was such a gorgeous day, actually almost too gorgeous because everyone and their cousin were at the zoo.  It was a mad house.  It was all totally worth it though because the kids had so much fun AND they had beer.

(Martha, Me, Mom)  And apparently like mother like daughter because look at our stance.
Unfortunately we couldn't stay with them all day and we had to say our buhh byeeees.  The good news was that Phil's half sister had her baby the night before.  We went home, changed, took some snaps and headed over to the hospital.  We dress up to go to the hospital.  Do you not do that?

Just kidding we put our fancy clothes on because we were going to a Live Auction and needed to leave right from the hospital.  The auction ended up being a lot of fun.  Phil and I ended up leaving with a new mountain bike, a wine making experience, and a facial (that's for me).  This was also when still was still using his cane....SMH.

The next morning we were all in rough shape, particularly Phil, as I had to chase him down around town in his bike trying to get him back in the car.  Yea it was that kind of night.  Sunday I brought Dragon (Mouse doesn't do well in social settings) over to Lindsay's for a play date/recovery day and ate lots of food including my fav of all fav's Spinach and Artichoke Dip. We were pretty lazy but we did manage to get a few games of Ticket to Ride in.

Two Weekend Recaps!

I'm about to do something crazy....Ready for it?  So I am going to do two weekend recaps in one.  Wow.  Is your mind blown yet?  Okay, sorry it isn't that cool.  I'm behind though and I want to document both last last weekend and last weekends fun-itivities!  I just made that up so just go with it!

March 29-30

During the work week I was sick with a cold, which I managed to last all winter without getting one and of course spring hits and bam.  By the weekend I was starting to feel better but still not a 100 percent.  I had plans with my niece and nephew and I really didn't want to cancel on them because they were really looking forward to spending the weekend with me.  I couldn't disappoint.  It turns out they had colds to so we were all just a group of sickies.

Saturday morning I picked them up bright and early and we went straight to the Muncie Childrens Museum, which is about 40 minutes outside from where I live.  But my town doesn't have anything remotely as cool.  We spent most of the morning and into the early afternoon running around here.  The best part of it was seeing them so excited.  My lil man, Liam loved the big tractor and the telescope/playing doctor while my niece Kayleigh loved the trains and slides!  It's adorable watching them play.

We went back to my place for a late lunch and tried to entertain them with the little amount of toys I had.  It was pretty easy thought because they loved my dogs. Dogs are easy entertainment for kids. I was running out of things to do though to keep them busy so my friend Lindsay and I took them to Kokomo, 30 minutes away to check out Chuck-e-Chesse.  I haven't been to this place since I was a kid.  And let me tell you something, I WILL NEVER TAKE MY FUTURE KIDS TO CHUCK-E-CHEESE!  That place is terrible in a bout 50 million different ways.  For one thing Liam and Kayleigh were too small and my biggest reason for being against this place is that it is just a straight up free for all.  Parents think this place is a daycare.  Kids are off fending for themselves and most of them are just rude.  One little boy straight up ran over to Liam and pushed him.  I was like where are your parents and he ran away.  Aunt Meg was about to yell at some parents!!! But I simmered down.  Liam loved  the Chuck-e-Cheese car ride that took your picture during it and Kayleigh loved riding the horse. For the most part stayed on those two rides.

Lindsay and I were hungry so we decided to go to Outback for some dinner.  The kids had been really good all day but I think the combo of not really having a nap and it being semi late, shit just hit the fan.  I understand why parents don't like taking toddlers out to eat.  It was chaos, once the food finally got there though it was a little more manageable!

And I apologize to my brother and sister in law in advanced if they come home yelling "POOP!"  You can't really see anything in the vidoes but it's all about the laughing in them on our way home from dinner!

On Sunday, after watching Thomas the Train of course, we brought them back to my brother, we were pooped out.  We did a lot of this, you know just falling wherever from exhaustion and laying down. :)

April 4-6
Just this last weekend my best friend Lindsay turned 27!

On Friday, Phil and I met her for Mango Margaritas and Dinner.  After that, the ladies all met up at a local bar for some drinks.  We ended up staying till 3 am!  Yikes, I haven't been out that late in a while.  I just cant hang with the youngins anymore.  I can't believe I am saying that at 24, but seriously it's hard keeping up and staying out that now these days.  We had a lot of fun and I honestly cant remember the last time I just had a girls night so it was much needed!

On Saturday I was a complete waste of life.  I spent most of the day, who am I kidding, I spent all of the day between the bathroom and the bedroom.  WORST HANGOVER.  Yea, it will be awhile before I do that again.  I missed out on a fun day in Indy with the bf because I couldn't fathom sitting in the car for an hour and half.  boo.  I did spend to catch up on all my shows though.

On Sunday, I took the boyfriend out for breakfast to try to make up for totally blowing our fun day.  I even took the dogs to Phil's parents to go running so he could have some of they day alone reading a book.  Mouse is so fast, we should have named her Bullet.  It's funny because Dragon tries to keep up but she ends up flipping because she is running her little heart out and her legs give out!

Tired out pups equals mission accomplished! :)

Phew.  Two weekends in one post is a lot!  I didn't want to miss out on sharing about my weekend with my niece and nephew, friends birthday fun and of course throwing in something about the pups.

Happy One Year Anniversary Dragon

A year ago on Saturday Phil and I added the newest member to our lil family and of course we celebrated.  We have no idea actually how old she is so we decided to make this her "birthday."  We do know she is around 1 and half in human years.  It was an exciting day.  Dragon and I started the morning with a run along the river.  It was our first outdoor run of 2014, so we were both really happy to get outside. Dragon did a lot better than I did as I was huffing and puffing about 3 minutes in but she kept me going.

The rest of the afternoon Dragon spent it with Phil while I was having a girls lunch with my friend down in Indy.  I can't really say what they did but I think it had some lounging around, cleaning and vodka involved. Either way it was bonding time while Mom was out for the day.

When I got back home I made Pork Chops, Thyme Potatoes, and Lemon Asparagus.  While that was cooking I whipped up a Carrot Peanut Butter Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting and homemade Sweet Potato Bones for Dragon and Mouse.  I have to say this is the first time I have made a dog cake and for just doing it last minute it came out pretty flippin good if I do say so!

We attempted to put her princess hat on but she was of course being a diva and didn't want anything to do with it.  We brought her cake out and sat her at the table.  She would not look at the cake.  I swear she thought it was a trap because she knows she isn't supposed to eat at the table.  We were cracking up.   My girl is smart and wasn't fallin for it.  So after our photo shoot we put the cake on the floor and Mouse and Dragon had at it.   I had to take it away from them because they were straight up inhaling it.  I didn't want to be up all night with sick pups.  This recipe is pup-approved.

If you are interested in the recipe I've included it at the bottom of the post.

I'll never forget the day we first saw Dragon or Zara as they called her at the Kennel.  She was the prettiest thing I had ever seen.  We left that day with no dog until I begged and begged Phil that this dog would be perfect for us.  We went back on February 22, 2013 and officially adopted her. :)

Sure, Dragon didn't make it easy for us in the beginning and if you are new to these parts then you should probably catch up here.  But after finally learning to trust us and with a lot of hard work she has become the best dog we could ask for.  We love you so much Dragon!

My Dogs Like to Play Dress Up

Why is it Monday already?  I swear I feel like I was just at work.  So yes I’m sad it’s Monday and I would much rather be running around getting into shenanigans with the bf.  And can we talk about how pathetic that game was last night.  Good thing I only watched the commercials.

After work on Friday, Philly and I went out for drinks and dinner.  It was extra special because we were unplugged and really had some good conversations.  We have been including unplugged every day.  Usually, it’s at bed time but as long as we make a conscious effort, I’m totally good with it. Catch up here about going unplugged.

We reflected on the year and that we are happy it’s over.  It was a roller coaster of a year.  It was amazing but it was also a year of change and growing for the both of us.  Last January Philly took over the family businesses as President. When we met he was transitioning into the roll.  With that comes a lot of stress.  So sure there were times that it was hard on our relationship but I am so glad I was by his side through all of it.  I feel that if we made it so early on in our relationship during a stressful time that we can get through anything together. It made us stronger both individually and in our relationship.

After three glasses of wine, we were heading out the door and then ran into a couple that we sort of, errr, I had no idea who they were.  Two extra glasses of wine later and my voice increasing, it was time to get home.  I’m loud to begin with but add a few glasses of wine and I’m pretty sure the whole town can hear what I am saying.

Saturday morning, I forced myself to clean up the house.  I’ve been neglecting it big time and feel like the worst girlfriend ever.  Thankfully, the bf helped me too and with a hangover.  He gets bonus points for sure.  The parts came in for our washing machine and the repair men came early to fix it.  I now, no longer have to wear dirty clothes.  “Ya filthy animal”!  Just kidding I wasn’t wearing dirty filthy clothes but I do love that movie, it’s probably one of my favorite scenes.

At lunch time, we drove down to Indianapolis.  Whenever we head down to Indy we stop at the Midland Antique Mall.  I can’t count how many times we have been there, yet haven’t purchased a single thing.  Except of course, this beauty.  I mean, I couldn’t resist. I can't wait to put this in my family room.   It just simply speaks for itself.

I’m totally kidding.  I had you going though, didn’t I?   So many questions.  Are Elvis lamps a thing and do people actually have these in their house? Please say no.

We drove up to the mall and did some shopping.  I had some gift cards and wanted to use them up.  I am now the new owner of this fabulous trench coat, 4 new pairs of underwear, and 2 VS bras that actually fit me.  I have been wearing the wrong bra size for years and can’t tell you how much better it is to have a bra where you don’t have side boob.  Cause it’s not cute.

We stopped for appetizers and drinks at Cheesecake factory.  They make the best Pineapple Mojito , go try it like now if you haven’t.  We caught the 5:15 showing of American Hustle, which I honestly wasn’t that impressed with.  It was good but it was slow.  I didn’t feel like there were any huge big exciting parts.  Also, I didn’t think Christian Bale could ever look ugly but guess what? He totally can.  The comb over?  Really dude.  But I did think he played the part really well.

And yes, if you follow me on instragram you learned that I played dress up with my dogs on Sunday.  I don’t think I am normal.  I was getting a kick out of it though so it’s a win.

Dragon in a black and white 3/4 length sleeve dress.

Mouse wearing the perfect shirt/dress for Summer.  See the Summer Catalog for prices and sizes.

Then I wasted the rest of the afternoon looking at tattoos while the bf was trying to recover from his hangover from Friday!  Can you tell we are getting old?

We brought Dragon over to our friends’ house late Sunday to watch the super bowl game and consume a lot of food.  Mouse isn’t a social butterfly like Dragon so we kept her home.  Dragon and her friend Bella had a tiny disagreement about who was going to play with this one particular bone.  Of course there were 9 other bones they could play with.  Dragon hasn’t quite learned to share yet and Bella wanted to nibble on the bone for a little while.  This wasn’t going to happen.  A few battle wounds and a 15 minute time out later, neither one of them were allowed toys.  Hopefully they both learned their lesson to share.  Can’t let a stupid fight over a toy ruin a friendship.  Hopefully a walk with these two and they will be back to being playful, wild biffles!

Anyways, that’s my weekend in a nut shell.   Oh yea and Happy February!
